As of this morning, 64 people had participated in the poll. Here are the results:
A couple notes about the poll:
- It’s completely unscientific.
- It appears that people who oppose Julie Dole voted in far higher numbers than those who support her.
- The point of my poll and my post was not to attack any candidates that Julie may support or oppose, but to remind her that her duty is to the delegates, and by violating the bylaws, which she did, she threatens the entire convention process.
To reiterate what I said on Friday: I am not convinced that Julie needs to resign, but it should be considered and at the very least she ought to apologize to the delegates and to Mike Winder.

Not only is this survey not scientific with a negligible survey sample, but the premise is faulty. It is based on two deceptions predicated by you in your original post.
First deception, that I endorsed or supported one of the county mayor candidates and other candidates in the past. A deception you have chosen not to substantiate, but to perpetuate.
Second deception, that I have opposed a candidate for mayor. Again, an accusation not substantiated by my quotes or any other evidence.
If the survey had been based on facts and had a respectable sample size, I suspect the results would have been significantly different. As it stands, this survey is of no
consequence.
As I’ve pointed out before, there is nowhere in the tribune article or anywhere else where I am quoted as opposing a candidate or asking them not to run, nor is there anywhere I am quoted as endorsing a Republican candidate prior to a Republican nominee being selected.
While I cannot be certain what political agenda you may be pursuing, it is clear your type of deception does nothing to build the Republican Party or to get Republicans elected.

Julie, the only thing in the SL Tribune article that gave me pause was when you were quoted as saying, “It’s unfortunate he’s chosen to be a candidate with the pending litigation.” I can interpret this no other way than an opposition to Mr. Winder’s candidacy. Is this taken out of context by the Tribune? If so, I’d love to know the context.
For the record, I answered the poll with a no.
Joel, I suspect Julie is looking at that comment as more a defense of the Salt Lake County Republican Party’s chances to re-take the Mayor’s office with a strong candidate which, or so it appears on the face of her quotes in the article, she believes would be higher with someone other than Mike Winder.
I agree with you: suggesting that someone’s candidacy is “unfortunate” is an “unfortunate” choice of words for someone who is not permitted to weigh in on the race in public.
Personally I bear Julie no ill-will, but I do wish she would keep her opinions about Republican candidates out of the papers and out of her management of the County Party.
That’s funny. I specifically overheard you telling Gary Ott’s girlfriend that you’ll do everything you can to make sure he wins. I mean, of the two of us, what do I have to gain by saying that? I don’t even live in SLCo anymore and I think the Republican Party of Utah has become a joke.

Ironically you only deny being “quoted” in the “Tribune article or anywhere else” as doing so…. Hmmmm? Sounds like a politician?

Perhaps you meant to say it is unfortunate timing for Mayor Winder to be running while the political dust still hasn’t settled and is still dealing with the political fallout from an self-admitted lapse in judgement…?
OR…
I like Mr. Ott and I think he has done an admirable job in the Recorders office but as you say it is and would be inappropriate to voice any personal support for or against Mr Ott or any candidate for that matter and while I hope he does well I wish all the Republican candidates well! and whoever becomes the nominee ultimately I hope does even better…!! Let whoever it is… WIN !!!

Where was Mr. Ott on debate night? Did He have any position on any topic?
No concerns about any position or candidate? I heard his comments early
on about using technology to save $ and improve efficiency and I like
that but there was clear position or energy on a single subject after that… It’s
possible he would be a good mayor but you have to be able to help us
imagine it! Was there really nothing you had to say or any additional
perspective or information to provide on any of those several subjects?
It almost seemed as though you weren’t familiar with the items being debated… or feared stating your positions!
