Hermies: If it’s calories you seek…

Apparently, if you work for the Cedar City Police Department, Hermies is the place to eat. We counted four police vehicles in the parking lot as we left. I’m not sure why. In addition, it’s also the place to get a “Hermie,” which, as was described to me, involves three patties of beef, ham, bacon…ok, […]

Pioneer Restaurant: Best. Fries. EVER. (or at least last week)

I hope I don’t exaggerate too much when I say that I may have found the best fries in Utah. Ever. Admittedly, it’s not the most accessible restaurant in town, unless that town happens to be Springdale, Utah at the gate of Zion National Park. Five Guys: Fabulous Food For the Famished

OK, Five Guys is not exactly “fabulous,” per se. In fact, it’s pretty darn down to earth. There are no frills, the menu is simple, and even the color scheme is just one color above monochromatic. But when you’re famished, the burger is about as good as anything you’d make on your home bbq.

El Chihuahua: Smothered enchiladas and a first chile relleno

Today we’re talking about El Chihuahua. No, not the Taco Bell dog. The place that is next to a Bar Named Sue on Highland Drive. The one where the waiter brings you that big basket of warm tortilla chips to chomp on while you wait for the food to arrive. Yeah, you know the place. […]

The Bombay House: All sorts of win.

There are a good sampling of  Indian cuisine restaurants in Salt Lake City, and I’ve sampled several of them. Ali Baba provides good portions and a quick, lunch-time stop. Himalayan Kitchen has a great site downtown and serves excellent food. But the one place I return to again and again, and will continue to haunt […]
